Well, if it is to start let me begin from the 1st second of the new year.
My phone flashed suddenly at 12 because of continuous messages from friends, family members, relatives, acquaintances and some hibernators who wake up once a year just to remind us of their presence in our lives.
It's the first day of 2022 and a long winter night still awaits ahead of the rising sun that will once again witness our planet complete another revolution around it. (Around 4.6 Billion times)
Soon after both hands of the clock hit the 12th mark there is a sudden warmth in the atmosphere. The sound of firecrackers outside, music @DJ night from distant localities and murmurs of people wishing each for successfully completing a year can be heard continuously. After about 20-30 minutes the sound's decibels have dropped along with the temperature. A sudden bubble of euphoria can be seen shrinking gradually, maybe just to continue in the morning or for the rest of the year.
The scene being described here is from a society full of families and working-class people in a small town, which is why that quick plunge in sound pollution is seen. In small towns, we wait till midnight, burn crackers, dance a bit or more, wish each other and then quickly go to sleep. The scene would have been totally different if it was to be compared with my college hostel, or bachelor's arena in a metro city during pre-covid times.
People prayed and wished each other to live longer on birthdays, new year's day, Holi, Diwali and multiple other occasions throughout the year, more evidently in the last 2 years which have been historical in multiple dimensions. Let's keep up this tradition of wishing, soliciting support and warmth to our close ones, irrespective of circumstances.
Keeping our hope and empathy alive let's wish each other a very "HAPPY NEW YEAR" ahead.
Stay healthy and happy.

Deep
